Artist Bio
Who am I? The answer to this question I am still searching for. I am a self-taught artist. For me, drawing in pencil captures a certain dramatic effect - much like the classic black and white movies. My goal with my drawings is to capture a photo or ultra-realistic quality. My drawings usually take me anywhere from 20 - 200 hours depending on the amount of detail I want to add. I often have been asked why I draw like this? Why don't I just take a photograph and call it a day? Well, my answer is simple - a photograph can't feel. A photograph cannot penetrate a viewers soul like a drawing can. Not to take away anything from photographers, believe me photographs are very important to me - and there are some awesome photographers in the world. But I feel like I learn a little more about the person I'm drawing when I'm spending hours upon hours drawing their faces. In essence, I also learn a little more about myself with each drawing. I am a lifelong student of art. I hope to be able to continue drawing for as long as I'm alive. When I draw, that's what I feel ALIVE! I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. I guess it's because I really become in tune with my subject. Now, I don't try to duplicate the subject but I do want to create a personal interpretation of what I see.
My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. It's those little unique nuances that everyone has is what I hope to capture in my portraits. It's why I became a portrait artist. Every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. This is why I am known amongst the local artists and friends in my community as "The Drawer of Life" why, because I have the ability to bring a drawing to life. GOD has given me a gift and it's one that I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's one I hope to bring everyone's inner beauty out. It's one that I hope to make us all learn something about ourselves.
If you would like to commission me to draw a portrait for you, please email me here and please include a scan of the reference photo. If you'd like to mail the reference photo to me, please email me for my address.
Please remember, the photograph must be clear enough for me to see the unique details of the face.

A photograph that is not clear will not be accepted. I take pride in my work and it's my name that goes on the final piece - I will not jeopardize the quality of the work. So please, make sure that the photograph is clear and large enough to see the details.
My portraits usually takes anywhere between 20 - 200 hours depending on the size and the amount of details being drawn. I request that a 50% non-refundable down-payment is made before I actually begin drawing. At this time I only accept checks (personal or bank).
As I work, I will email the client work in progress (WIP) scans of the portrait. Once the portrait is completed, I will send a final watermarked scan of the portrait to the client for approval and any changes to be made. Once the portrait is approved, I will prepare the portrait for shipping by spraying it with a fixative which prevents smudging and yellowing. I will then package the portrait in a special shipping envelop made of special cardboard. The final 50% payment is due once the final portrait is approved. Once the final payment is made, any submitted photos will be returned along with your portrait.
